Shweder Biel has been working on food access and education in Washington, D.C., since 2009, when she cofounded DC Greens. Her organization aims to bridge the gaps in the local Washington, D.C., food system to ensure that all residents have a deeper connection to the sources of their food, and can afford fresh, local fruit and vegetables.

DC Greens works across multiple institutions, bringing people together so they can work collectively toward a better local food system. Shweder Biel currently serves on the Mayor’s Commission on Healthy Schools and Youth.
