Andrews founded The Catherine Ferguson Academy, a school for young mothers, more than 20 years ago. At the time, it was a revolutionary experiment in helping young women with children complete their secondary education and break the cycle of poverty. The innovative academy hosted on-site daycare facilities, featured a working urban farm and boasted an impressive 90% graduation rate. Since being honored as a Mother of Invention, Andrews has retired and The Catherine Ferguson Academy has closed its doors. She is currently pursuing a second career as a speaker and educational consultant.
