Maria Dellapina

SPECS4US

An optician by trade, Maria was fueled by the desire to provide her youngest daughter Erin, who was diagnosed with Down Syndrome at birth, an eyeglass frame that fit her properly. After finding out that nearly 87% of children with Down Syndrome will need glasses by the time they enter preschool, Maria combined her passion as a mother with her knowledge of eyeglasses, and SPECS4US was formed.

SPECS4US stands for Superior Precision Eyewear for Children who are Special. This innovative eyeglass design includes a bridge that is adjusted to properly fit a low nasal bridge and temples (or “arms” of the glasses), which are modified to keep the glasses from constantly slipping down. Maria created SPECS4US to improve the sight and quality of life for children and adults with Down Syndrome and other unique physical features by providing custom frames that accommodate their needs.
